This 309 meters long barrage is built upon the River Mayurakshi. It was taken up for execution in 1951 and finally got completed in all respects in 1985. It has brought under 250860 hectar land under irrigation in the districts of Birbhum, Murshidabad, Burdwan and even in the state of Jharkhand. Experiencing the setting sun over the Mayurakshi basin from the Tilpara Barrage is a sight to be remembered for a lifetime.
